Shure is introducing an anniversary model of its most popular microphone, the SM58, to celebrate its 50th year. The world’s most popular microphone, has been a foundational and formidable part of live performance for more than 50 years. Earlier this year, Shure revealed the KSM8, the “the most significant dynamic microphone technology advancement the industry has seen in more than 50 years”.
The limited edition SM58-S0A has all the technical specs of the SM58, and features a silver finish and printed denotation of the 50th Anniversary on the handle. This edition marks the first time in 50 years that Shure has released a colour variation of the SM58 to the general public.
Shure will also auction specially-designed SM58 artist microphone editions online, with the proceeds going to the charity of the artist’s choice.
Other activities to commemorate the anniversary include encouraging customers to share their experiences and memorable moments on social media through a video project submission, while a website has also been launched with historical information, artist photos and videos.
“The SM58 has been at the centre of unforgettable musical performances for 50 years and has left its mark on generations of audiences and performers. Truly, it was born to perform, and any performer who picks up an SM58 in 2016 can depend on that same great sound that so many have shared in. We are thrilled and honoured to celebrate this milestone and look forward to hearing about the experiences of SM58 fans from around the world.” – Soren Pedersen, product specialist at Shure.
The anniversary model also ships with historically-inspired packaging, a commemorative certificate, photo print, historical user guide and a celebratory sticker as seen below.
